Our class is intended to introduce participants to:
- what mindfulness is and how to integrate it in daily life to gradually bring more awareness and less stress
- meditation and/or strengthen their current practice
- home meditation practice and how to stay committed
- incorporating mini mediation throughout the day
- quieting the mind and bringing calmness into life
This series is for beginners and those looking to learn more about meditation in the tradition of Yoga. Each session will introduce participants to new skills and techniques for exploring mindfulness and experimenting with meditation. The intention of the workshop is to introduce participants to meditation as a meaningful tool for personal growth while offering skills for continuing a daily practice.
Weekly sessions are 60 minutes in length and include short 10-15 minute guided meditations with time alotted for feedback and discussion. Meditation cushions, bolsters, blankets, and chairs are available for use.
Mindful Communication Workshop
Looking to improve your communication skills? In our attempt to clearly convey a message to another person, there can be numerous factors that influence our ability to stay on track, stick to our values, and accurately express ourselves. This workshop teaches strategies to assist participants in addressing some of these barriers in communication. It can help participants in:
- managing the impact of emotion,
- clarifying what you are trying to say,
- increasing awareness of others,
- managing interpretations,
- increasing awareness of your own presentation, and
- being more effective.
Emotions can have a powerful impact on our ability to communicate. It can influence our overall participation in an interaction leading to interpretations, a skewed view of the interaction, and not saying exactly what we mean. It can be helpful to have a number of tools to reduce the barriers and participate in way that doesn't make things worse.
This workshop is beneficial for individuals, couples, and families. This workshop meets weekly for two hours each session for 6 weeks. Homework is assigned weekly. The cost is $349 per person.
DBT Couples Workshop
Our weekend workshop is intended to assist couples in improving their relationships by providing practical strategies to build a better relationship.
Using a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy approach, this workshop teaches couples to use mindfulness as well as other DBT strategies within the context of their relationship. It will teach couples how to work together to get to the root of the problem instead of getting side tracked by intense emotions, reactions, judgments, and invalidation. It will look at how emotions factor into our interactions and teach how to be effective in stressful situations and conflict.
Our workshop will run Friday evening and full days Saturday and Sunday. It is a psycho-educational group intended to teach participants new strategies to improve their relationships. There will be opportunities to practice and homework will be assigned.
Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of guided relaxation that has a profound effect on the body, mind, and emotions. Classes begin with simple movement, breathwork, and focusing exercises to prepare for meditation. During the Yoga Nidra meditation, you will be led through various stages of deeper relaxation where you turn your awareness to experiencing your wellness and wholeness. Working with your own personal resolve or intention; attitude and blockages are addressed and transformed. Exploring guided visualization while deeply relaxing the nervous system is therapeutic in the healing of anxiety, stress, fatigue, insomnia, as well as pre/post-surgery, cancer, and PTSD, etc.
Classes are $20 per session. Space is limited so please register at least 24 hours in advance.
Yoga for Stress Management
In this approachable workshop, learn about how Yoga can give you the tools to manage the stresses that arise from everyday life. Yoga's emphasis on breathing and the mind/body/spirit connection is especially effective in treating stress and anxiety.
Learn simple poses to unwind achy muscles, strengthen your mind and centre your self. Try simple breathing techniques to help you experience a calm focus. Enjoy a relaxing meditation at the end of the session to help you achieve peacefulness of body and mind.
This 3-hour workshop is for all levels of Yoga including those who are new to the practice. Modifications to the poses will be offered for those who need extra assistance. Please bring your own mat and wear comfortable, breathable clothing. Props will be provided. The cost of this workshop is $125. Space is limited so advanced registration is required.
Foundations of Yoga
This yoga series is beneficial to all levels. It will focus on building strength and confidence! Learn how to properly engage and strengthen your core through various postures. The classes will support you in learning the basics, enhancing your practice, and to feel taller and more toned.
Each class is 75 minutes and meets weekly for six weeks. The cost of this workshop is $125. Space is limited so advanced registration is required.
Introduction to Vinyasa Flow
This 5 week workshop series is specially designed to help build your skill and confidence at linking your movement with your breath.
For beginners to more experienced Yoga practitioners, it's essential to understand the poses so that you can move safely (and smoothly) in Flow Yoga style. Each week we will build on the previous lesson, so that you'll be able to move through Sun Salutations, Standing Poses, Backbends, Hips Openers and Twists while simultaneously loosening up your breath.
Be prepared to move and wring out some of the stress you carry in your day to day life! And of course, enjoy a restorative rest at the end of each class so you can leave feeling calmer and more balanced.
All ages, all levels welcome. Comfortable, breathable clothing required. We are pleased to offer: small group size, attention to detail and support for those with previous injuries. This is a 75 mintues class and costs $145.
Yang/Yin Yoga Series
This 5 week workshop series will focus on bringing balance into your life.
Whether you are a beginner or more experienced practitioner, Yang/Yin style classes will help you to reduce stress and feel livelier. Each week be prepared to move, build some heat and wring out some of the tension you carry; ending with a deep restorative, wind-down.
All ages, all levels welcome. Comfortable, breathable clothing required. We are pleased to offer: small group size, attention to detail and support for those with previous injuries. This is a 75 mintues class. Tuition $125.
Mindfulness: A Core DBT Skill
Mindfulness is a skill that allows us to direct our focus in a purposeful way without judgment. It helps us to fully participate in the current moment and in our lives. It can assist in calming our mind, reducing stress, improving sleep, reducing anxiety/worry, and increasing our awareness.
Learn more about how mindfulness can help you in your daily life. We will also provide a brief overview of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), of which mindfulness is a key component. DBT provides practical skills that assist in coping with emotions and a busy mind. Join us for a discussion about mindfulness, DBT, and a brief mindfulness meditation practice.
Who should attend? This workshop would benefit mental health or holistic practitioners, anyone interested in learning more about mindfulness, as well as anyone struggling to calm their mind or manage their emotions. This workshop is also available in the community, as well as upon request from organizations.
Introduction to DBT for Supports
This 6-hour workshop is aimed to assist the family and friends of individuals participating in a DBT program. It will cover strategies to balance self-care and supporting your loved one. It will provide an overview of DBT, strategies to help your loved one in their journey, and provide an opportunity to ask questions. The cost of this workshop is $349. This workshop is often held on the weekend as a full day or split into two sessions of 3 hours each.
Our nutrition workshops are taught by a Registered Dietitian. These workshops look at helping participants learn more about nutrition, eating for a healthy lifestyle, developing better eating practices, and promoting health and wellness. The information covered can also help with disease prevention. The workshops are held on Monday evenings from 6:00pm until 7:30pm. In partnership with Transition Life Wellness, we are hosting a women's retreat at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, AB.
This women's retreat is designed to pamper your mind, body and heart by learning ways to implement self care. This all inclusive retreat includes meals, accommodations, daily yoga/meditation, workshops to help you develop self care goals, nordic spa pass and an individual coaching session. Investment is $999 (double occupancy); $1149 (single occupancy)
